Squire Wins $5250.00 on the Ohio River
ATHENS, Ala. – Terry Squire of Medina Ohio, won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Ohio Division tournament held on August 4th 2018 on the Ohio River. Running out of Maysville riverfront park in Maysville Kentucky, Squire weighed in three-bass weighing 6.68-pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 3.07-pounds. For the boater division victory, he took home a check for $5000.00. For weighing in the largest bass caught by a boater, Squire also took home an additional $250.00. For using an ABU Garcia reel to catch the largest bass of the tournament, Squire also took home an ABU Garcia SX reel valued at $160.00.
“I caught three fish today all on the main river and all on a whopper plopper,” said Squire.
In second for the boaters, Kyle Lackey of Tipp City Ohio, landed four-bass weighing 5.38-pounds.
“I had four keepers today, two on a buzz bait and two on a spinnerbait,” said Lackey.
Ronald Hiles of Piketon, Ohio placed third with a five-bass limit weighing 5.33-pounds.
“I jumped around a lot today fishing main river and creeks. I had seven keepers but couldn’t get a quality bite. My fish came on a spinnerbait and a buzz bait,” said Hiles.
In fourth place for the boaters, William Redmond of Sciotoville, Ohio, weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 5.19-pounds. Rounding out the top five, Dan Fry of Marysville, Ohio, weighed in 3-bass weighing 4.09-pounds.
In the co-angler division Rick McGuire of Brookville, Ohio, weighed in two-bass weighing 3.73-pounds. McGuire took home a check for $500.00 for the win.
“I caught my fish on a green pumpkin senko fishing main river,” said McGuire.
Taking second for the co-anglers, Larry Spivey of Middletown, Ohio, weighed in two-bass weighing 3.19-pounds.
“I caught my fish today fishing main river with a crankbait,” said Spivey.
Taking third for the co-anglers, Jonathon Willis of Ironton, OH, weighed in two-bass weighing 2.47-pounds.
“I caught my fish today fishing stumps with a jig,” said Willis.
In fourth among the co-anglers, Robert Barch Jr. of Nelsonville, OH, weighed in two-bass weighing 2.44-pounds. Rounding out the top five, Bill Meyers weighed in one-bass weighing 2.42-pounds. Meyers took home a check for $70.00 for weighing in the largest bass caught by a co-angler.
Slated for 9/29-9/30 2018, the next event will be the area championship on Lake Chautauqua running out of Maryville park in Maryville, New York.
