Fry Wins $5430.00 on the Ohio River

ATHENS, Ala. – Dan Fry of Marysville Ohio, won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Ohio Division tournament held on July 14th, 2018 on the Ohio River. Running out of Tanners Creek in Lawrenceburg IN, Fry weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 9.28-pounds. He anchored his catch with a bass weighing 4.10-pounds. For the boater division victory, he took home a check for $5000.00. For weighing in the largest bass caught by a boater, Fry also took home an additional $430.00. For using an ABU Garcia reel to catch the largest bass of the tournament, Fry also took home an ABU Garcia SX reel valued at $160.00.

“I caught one fish in Tanners creek and two in another creek close by. I made a run to Big Bone and caught three more including my biggest bass. I caught everything on a spinnerbait and flipping a brush hog,” said Fry.

In second for the boaters, Michael Nesbitt of St. Paris, Ohio landed a five-bass limit weighing 9.20-pounds.

“I had a 100 yard stretch in the back of a creek I could catch fish. I was catching about one fish per hour. My keepers were all caught on a jig,” said Nesbitt.

Kyle Lackey of Tipp City, Ohio placed third with a five-bass limit weighing 8.47 pounds.

“I had one spot in a creek that held fish. With the water having been drawn down it was difficult to get back to that spot. I was able to cull up three times. My fish were caught on a spinnerbait and a senko,” said Lackey.

In fourth place for the boaters, Chris Wilkinson of Farmersburg, IN weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 8.37 pounds and rounding out the top five, Jamie Cunnagan of New Lebanon, Ohio weighed in five-bass weighing 8.00 pounds.

In the co-angler division Jonathan Hall of Waynesburg, KY weighed in two-bass weighing 4.12-pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass that weighed 3.18-pounds. Hall took home a check for $600.00 for the win. For having the largest bass weighed in by a co-angler Hall took home an additional $75.00.

“I lost a good keeper early on. I was only getting bit about every 2.5 hours. The two fish I weighed in were caught on a weightless trick worm and a shaky head,” said Hall

Taking second for the co-anglers, Chad Jackson of Indianapolis, IN weighed in two-bass weighing 3.77 pounds. He took home $300.00 for the effort.

“I had two bites all day. Both of my keepers were caught flipping a small beaver type bait,” said Jackson.

Taking third for the co-anglers, Brett Warrick of Columbus, OH weighed in three-bass weighing 3.59 pounds. He took home $225.00 for his catch.

“I caught all three of my keepers flipping plastics in Tanners Creek,” said Warrick.

In fourth among the co-anglers, Brian Zelinskas of Troy, OH weighed in two-bass weighing 2.75-pounds and rounding out the top five, Jonathon Willis of Ironton, OH weighed in two-bass weighing 2.03-pounds.

Slated for 8/4/2018 the next Ohio event will be on the Ohio River launching out of Maysville, KY.
