Nesbitt Wins on Indian Lake
ATHENS, Ala. – Michael Nesbitt of St. Paris Ohio, won the American Bass Anglers Open Series event held 5/12/2018 on Indian Lake. Running out of Moundwood Park in Huntsville Ohio, Nesbitt weighed in a five bass limit weighing 12.99 pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 3.71 pounds. Michael took home a check for $5000.00 for the win.
“The day started out slow, but when the sun came out around 9:00 I started catching them. I caught around 15 fish today and they all came on a frog,” said Nesbitt.
In second for the boaters Chris Williamson of Anna. Ohio landed a five bass limit weighing 12.92 pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 4.05 pounds. Williamson took home a check for $600.00 for his catch and an additional $410.00For weighing in the biggest bass caught by a boater.
“I caught probably 15 fish today all on a frog,” said Williamson.
Darrell Gallagher of Maplewood, Ohio placed third with a five bass limit weighing 12.46 pounds. He took home a check for $475.00 for his catch.
“I caught probably 10 fish today. Most of them were caught flipping a jig that my wife made for me,” said Gallagher.
In fourth place for the boaters, Mel Orahood of North Lewisburg, Ohio weighed in a five bass limit weighing 11.21 pounds and rounding out the top five, Josh Smith of Hamilton, Ohio weighed in a five bass limit weighing 11.13 pounds.
In the co-angler division Bill Meyers of Urbana, Ohio weighed in a three bass limit weighing 5.18 pounds, anchored by a bass that weighed 2.35 pounds. Meyers took Home a check for $600.00 for the win and an additional $80.00 for weighing in the largest bass caught by a co-angler.
“I caught a lot of fish today. They were just not the size I needed. I caught them on a variety of baits, some flipping, some on a crankbait and some on a spinnerbait,” said Meyers.
Taking second for the co-anglers, Robert Barch Jr. of Nelsonville, Ohio weighed in a three bass co-angler limit weighing 4.93 pounds. Barch took home a check for $300.00 for his catch.
“I caught 8 fish today all flipping,” said Barch.
Kevin Tangeman of Chickasaw, Ohio placed third with a three bass limit weighing 4.87 pounds. He earned $225.00 for the effort.
“I caught probably 15 fish today. I caught everything flipping and, on a spinnerbait,” said Tangeman.
In fourth among the co-anglers Chris McCuster of Beaver Falls, Pa. weighed in a three bass limit weighing 4.38 pounds and rounding out the top five was a tie between Boyd Yates of Hebron, Ohio and Ryan Kriegel of Delpos, Ohio with three bass weighing 4.10 pounds.
Slated for June 2nd, the next Ohio division event will be held on Grand Lake/St. Mary’s
