SiriusXM® Marine Weather and Audio Being Highlighted at American Bass Anglers Events

Athens, Ala. (August 15, 2017) - American Bass Anglers (ABA) will work with SiriusXM to highlight SiriusXM Marine weather and audio entertainment services for the fresh water fishing market at the Ram Truck Open Series events, Ram Truck American Fishing Tour Championship, Ram Truck 100% Plus Team Trail events, American Couples Series Championship, Ray Scott Championship, and Military Team Bass Tournament.

SiriusXM Marine offers satellite-delivered weather for boaters, both inland and offshore. By connecting directly to the boat’s chartplotter/MFD, subscribers to SiriusXM Marine Weather service receive graphical weather and valuable fishing information relative to their boat’s location. This vital information includes storm locations, speed, and direction, as well as lightning strikes.

In addition to its important weather and info features on the water, SiriusXM offers unparalleled audio entertainment with more than 150 channels that feature commercial-free music from many genres, plus sports, talk, comedy, entertainment, news and more. Subscribers to the All Access programming package, SiriusXM’s most extensive offering, get Howard Stern, every NFL, MLB®, and NBA game, every NASCAR® race, plus NHL® games, PGA TOUR® coverage and live college sports. Subscribers to the All-Access package also get access to SiriusXM when they are away from the boat on the SiriusXM app and on connected devices including smart TVs, Amazon Alexa devices and Sony PlayStation.

“SiriusXM Marine offers valuable services to boaters, and we are proud to work with them,” said Morris Sheehan, President of ABA. “Many lakes still have spotty to no cell service, and even with service, cell phone screens are still just too small. Today anglers are using large screen chartplotter/MFD units of twelve inches and some as large as sixteen inches. Having SiriusXM Marine Weather satellite service allows anglers to overlay up-to-date weather information on their plotters. In military terms, it’s called having actionable intel. With one touch, anglers can connect to graphical weather information and coming weather changes, allowing for quick adjustments to fishing strategies. More importantly, knowing exactly where the storms are, their path, speed, and severity allows boaters to move out of a storm’s path,” concluded Sheehan.

“I don’t go anywhere without SiriusXM,” said David Hagood, Vice President of ABA. “Whether it’s in my Ram Truck, on my Triton Bass Boat, or even in my RV, I rely on SiriusXM every single day. SiriusXM connects me to all the things I’m interested in, like news, music, sports, and weather, no matter where I’m at or what I’m doing. Even just cooking out with friends, SiriusXM is always playing and I never miss my favorite team’s game. One of my favorite options is the Travel Link feature, which allows me, at the touch of a button, to find the best prices nearby for diesel for my truck or gas for my boat, saving me some money. I’m excited that SiriusXM is now a sponsor of American Bass Anglers”, concluded Hagood.

“We are very pleased to work with American Bass Anglers so ABA members are aware of the valuable features available with the SiriusXM Marine service”, said Dave Wasby, SiriusXM Vice President of Aviation, Marine, and Music for Business. “Boaters tell us they really appreciate being able to see when storms are headed their way so they can decide whether they can spend more time fishing, or it’s time to head home. SiriusXM features also help them pick the best spots for fishing. Plus, with a satellite radio subscription, they can enjoy their favorite SiriusXM channels through their boat’s speaker system – whether they are heading out to their favorite fishing spot or coming back in after a successful day on the water.”

SiriusXM Marine Weather demonstrations will be available on-site for members fishing the Ram Truck Open Series in the coming weeks, and at the Ram Trucks American Fishing Tour Championship in October.
