$5,000 Minimum Guaranteed First Place at Every Divisional Tournament
 

Robertson Wins on Barkley Lake

Matt Robertson of Central City, Kentucky won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Kentucky Division running out of Kuttawa/Lyon County Boat Ramp in Kuttawa, KY on July 23, 2016. He caught five bass weighing 20.64 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 5.77 pound kicker. “I like to night fish and I knew we would take off early enough to catch some fish first thing this morning using a black spinner bait so I took advantage of that. Once the sun got up, I started throwing a jig and a swimbait on ledges anywhere from 15-25 foot of water,” stated Robertson. Robertson took home $5,000 for his efforts as well as $500 from Triton Gold. 

In second for the Boaters, Harry Barber Sr. of Earlington, Kentucky landed a five-bass limit weighing 20.18 pounds with a 4.93 pound kicker. “I caught my fish using a green pumpkin jig fishing brush piles on Barkley all day. I caught fish all day long,” stated Barber. He collected $851 for his effort. 

Brent Anderson of Kingston Springs, Tennessee took third for the Boaters with five bass weighing 17.75 pounds. “I caught my fish today throwing a plum worm targeting shallow ledges,” said Anderson. He earned $567 for his efforts.

Finishing fourth was David Gnewikow of Mt Juliet, Tennessee landing a five-bass limit for 16.80 pounds.

Richard Meuth of Hendersonville, Kentucky rounded out the top five Boaters with five bass weighing 16.20 pounds topped by a 5.97 pound kicker.

Meuth took home $320 for his 5.97 pound bass as well as a new Abu Garcia Revo for catching the big fish of the tournament using an Abu Garcia reel.

In the Co-Angler Division, John Wilkerson of Nashville, Tennessee won with three bass weighing 10.82 pounds. He sealed his victory with a 4.79 pound kicker.

“I caught all of my fish dragging a big shaky head. I caught four keepers today. We fished anywhere from 8-17 foot of water just dragging ledges,” said Wilkerson. He took home $1,215 for his efforts.

Taking second for the Co-Anglers, Mike Blumer of Louisville, Kentucky brought in a three-bass limit weighing 10.50 pounds including a 4.79 pound kicker. “I caught my fish today using a plum worm fishing humps in 6-7 feet of water. It was a grind today, I only caught three fish all day,” states Blumer. He collected $425 for the effort.

David Nickle of Greenville, Kentucky placed third among the Co-Anglers with three bass weighing 10.12 pounds anchoring his catch with a 4.52 pound kicker. “I used a worm to catch my fish today anywhere from 2-25 feet. I caught fish all day, but wasn’t able to cull any,” said Nickle. He earned $283

In fourth place among the Co-Anglers, Phillip Tidwell of Dyersburg, Tennessee brought in three bass weighing 9.04 pounds including a 3.43 pound kicker.

Mark Shane of Indianapolis, Indiana finished in fifth place with three bass weighing 8.12 pounds with a 2.42 pound kicker.

Tim Huddleston of Calvert City, Kentucky took home $160 for Co-Angler Big Bass with a weight of 4.87 pounds.

Dave Ruckdeschel of Whitesville, KY was the winner of a $100 Best Western Travel Card at the July 23, 2016 Ram Truck Open Series event at Lake Barkley. Ruckdeschel lodged at the host Best Western hotel during the event and he was entered into the Best Western Travel Card drawing. There is a drawing for a $100 Best Western travel card at every Ram Truck Open Series event that has a Best Western host hotel. Anglers must bring their Best Western hotel receipts to registration to enter the drawing.

Slated for September 24-25, 2016, the next divisional tournament will be held on Kentucky Lake launching from Paris Landing State Park. At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2017 Ray Scott Championship, slated for Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, TN in April of 2017.
