New Takes Win at Lake Norman

Bryan New of Belmont, NC won the North Carolina Division Ram Truck Open Series event at Lake Norman on June 4, 2016. New weighed in an 18.16-pound limit to win $5000. “I was fishing shallow along the banks,” said New.

Jeffrey Queen of Catawba, NC finished in second place with 16.57 pounds at the Lake Norman event winning $1307. “I was throwing around the docks, skipping deep under the docks and trees,” said Queen.

Kelly Logan of Morganton, NC finished third place with 13.29 pounds at Lake Norman event, winning $871

Jeffery Queen of Catawba, NC caught the Boater Big Bass of the event 4.32 to win a total of $540 for the Big Bass Pot making a total win of $1,847.

Steve Cannon of Wilkesboro, NC won the Abu Garcia Revo Big Bass Bonus after using an Abu Garcia reel to catch his 5.05-pound Big Bass at the June 4, 2016 Ram Truck Open Series event at Lake Norman. He was awarded an Abu Garcia Revo SX reel valued at $159.99.

There were 60 Boats in the Lake Norman Event

Hunter Harwell of Hickory, NC was the Co-Angler champion of the Ram Truck Open Series event held on June 4, 2016 at Lake Norman. Harwell’s 8.74 pounds secured him a win of $1,620. “I fished shallow all day with a top water jigs and worms” said Harwell.

Steve Cannon of Wilkesboro, NC was the 2nd place Co-Angler champion of the Ram Truck Open Series event held on June 4, 2016 at Lake Norman. Cannon’s weight of 7.31 secured him a second place win and also Co-Angler Big Bass, a 5.05 pound largemouth. He won a total of $744 for his day’s catch. “I caught my fish on top water with a whopper plopper. I caught my big fish at 11:00 and never got another bite,” said Cannon.

Scott Anderson of China Grove, NC took 3rd place Co-Angler with 6.73 pounds and a win of $359.

Ram Truck Open Series anglers can take advantage of the “no boat on boat draw” format along with huge payouts for the 2016 season. First place boaters can win a guaranteed $5000 first place, regardless of number of entries. Payouts will increase to $6000 for the first place boater with a 100 boat field. Over the course of four divisional events and the area championship, anglers will be competing for a spot in the 2017 Ray Scott Championship.

Lots of contingency money is up for grabs during the 2016 Ram Trucks Open Series season. Anglers participating in the Triton Gold program can earn up to $7,000 at 2016 divisional events and up to $50,000 at the 2017 Ray Scott Championship. Anglers can also take advantage of other programs such as T-H Marine Atlas Rewards, Power Pole Captain's Cash, Garmin Grand Giveaway, Livingston Lures Cash for Big Bass, Abu Garcia Revo Big Bass Bonus, Maui Jim Bonus, and Mercury/MotorGuide bonus money.
