Tramel Jigs His Way to $5000 Win at Center Hill
Josh Tramel of Smithville, TN won the Tennessee Central division Ram Truck Open Series event at Center Hill Lake on April 16, 2016. Tramel weighed in a 19.46 pound limit to win $5000. “I was using a green pumpkin jig in anywhere from 3-10 feet of water. I caught fish all day and I didn’t really target any particular areas. I just went fishing today,” said Tramel.
Jason Dies of Lebanon, TN finished in second place with 17.97 pounds winning $1234. “I caught my fish today using soft plastics in about 20 feet of water. I caught around 30 keepers all day,” said Dies.
Noel Smith of Portland, TN finished in third place with 16.63 pounds, including the 6.39 pound boater Big Bass of the day. Smith took home $823 for third place and $560 from the Big Bass Pot. He also used an Abu Garcia reel to catch his Big Bass and was awarded a new Abu Garcia Revo XS reel valued at $159.99 through the Abu Garcia Revo Big Bass Bonus program. “I caught some of my fish deep and the big fish came off of a bed first thing this morning. My big fish was on a little lizard and my other fish came on a jig and a Carolina rig in about 10-12 feet of water. I was using an Abu Garcia Revo when I caught my big bass,” said Smith.

Anthony "Ryan" Layhew of Murfreesboro, TN was the co-angler champion of the Ram Truck Open Series event held on April 16, 2016 at Center Hill Lake. Layhew weighed in 10.52 pounds and the 5.87 pound co-angler Big Bass to win $1070 for first place and $115 from the Big Bass Pot. “I caught my big fish on a topwater pattern using a Strike King Sexy Dog. I caught my other fish using a green pumpkin jig in 6-8 feet of water. I caught fish pretty much all day, so it was a good day,” said Layhew.
Michael E. Hall of Franklin, KY finished in second place on the co-angler side with 8.38 pounds to win $384. “My fish came on a white Luck-E-Strike jerkbait. I caught most of my fishin the morning. The fish seemed to shut off around 10:00. We were fishing bluff walls all day long in about 6 feet of water,” said Hall.
Jason Larkin of Goodlettsville, TN brought in 7.19 pounds to finish in third place and win $226. “We were fishing slowly using plastics in about 20 feet of water. We starting fishing pea gravel and that’s when I caught my fish,” said Larkin.
