Florida Central Heads to Harris Chain ATHENS, Ala. – The Florida Central Division of the American Bass Anglers Open Series will host its third event of the 2018 season March 17, 2018, on the Harris Chain in Tavares, FL. The competitors will launch at Hickory Point Recreational Facility, located at 27341 FL-19, Tavares, FL 32778. Anglers may begin fishing at 7:30a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 3:30p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. local time at Hickory Point Recreational Facility with the tournament briefing to begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Big Bags Predicted for Kissimmee Chain Saturday ATHENS, Ala. –$5000 1st Place guarantee plus over $9000 in sponsor bonus money up for grabs the Florida Central Division of the ABA Open Series will hold its second qualifying event of the season on February 24, 2018, on the Kissimmee Chain near Lake Wales, FL. The Kissimmee Chain is really showing some big bags. This past weekend a couple of ABA anglers fishing in a local team event showed up with 5 bass weighing 38.97 with a 12.12 big bass. The weather for the upcoming ABA Open Series event could be much better, sunny with temps in the Mid 80s. |

Florida Central Opens at Lake Toho ATHENS, Ala. – The Florida Central Division of the 2018 Open Series will open the season on January 20, 2018, on Lake Toho in Kissimmee, FL. Troy Oliver of Lakeland, FL won the opening event last year (January 28,2017) with 23.01 pounds and took home the guaranteed $5000 First-Place Boater prize. David Rushing of Orlando, FL was the co-angler winner with an impressive 15.00 pound limit. David’s victory in the co-anger division earned him a check for $2500. Rich Patterson landed the biggest bass of the tournament with a 8.84 pound bass, that earned him $940 |

FL Central and FL South Head to Kissimmee ATHENS, Ala. – The Ram Truck Open Series Florida Central division and Florida South division will hold their final event of the 2016 season on September 24th and 25th on Lake Toho. The competitors will launch from Kissimmee Lakefront Park landing in Kissimmee, Florida. Anglers may begin fishing at 7:00 a.m. or safe light on days one and two. The weigh in will begin at 3:00 p.m. each day. All anglers will compete both days of the event. There will NOT be a cut in the field. |

Wooten Dominates on Kissimmee Chain Bobby Wooten of Lithia, Florida won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Florida Central tournament, held June 18th on the Kissimmee Chain. Running out of Camp Mack near Lake Wales, FL Bobby caught five bass weighing 27.05 pounds. “I started off throwing topwater this morning, but just couldn’t get the fish to eat the bait. Then, I changed up and started flipping, but couldn’t get them to stay on. Around 10:30am, we went off shore and we stayed there the rest of the day fishing brush piles,” Wooten said. For the Boater division victory, Wooten took home a check for $5,000. |

Futch Wins Best Western Travel Card Randy Futch of Dunnellon, FL was the winner of a $100 Best Western Travel Card at the March 12, 2016 Ram Truck Open Series event at the Harris Chain of Lakes. Futch lodged at the host Best Western hotel during the event and he was entered into the Best Western Travel Card drawing. There is a drawing for a $100 Best Western travel card at every Ram Truck Open Series event that has a Best Western host hotel. Anglers must bring their Best Western hotel receipts to registration to enter the drawing. |

Mercado Takes $2800 Co-angler Win Irving Mercado of Davenport, FL was the co-angler champion of the Ram Truck Open Series event held on March 12, 2016 at the Harris Chain of Lakes. Mercado had a total of 11.77 pounds which included the 6.74 pound co-angler Big Bass. His catch was worth $2500 for first place and $370 from the Big Bass Pot. “We were fishing around the whole lake, pretty much just cranking a little square bill. I caught the Big Bass on an outside grass line and the rest were in lily pads,” said Mercado. |

Kremer Wins at Harris Chain John Kremer of Sanford, FL won the Florida Division Ram Truck Open Series event at the Harris Chain of Lakes on March 12, 2016. Kremer brought in a 25.34 pound bag of Harris Chain bass to win $5000. “I caught three right away this morning and I think they were spawning, because they were in the grass. I was flipping a four inch Culprit craw and pretty much stayed in that area all day. They were all in a couple hundred yard stretch of grass. I caught my biggest one about 11:00,” said Kremer. |

Bolduc Wins $2500 Co-angler Prize at Toho
David Bolduc of Deltona, FL was the co-angler champion of the inaugural Ram Truck Open Series event held on January 16, 2016 at Lake Toho. Bolduc’s 9.81 pound limit was worth $2500. “I had fun today. My boater took me to fish and I caught fish. I actually caught 12 fish today. It was fun. All I did today was have fun today. I was throwing a trick worm in the grass,” said Bolduc.
Jeffrey Herndon of Plant City, FL finished in second place on the co-angler side with 9.13 pounds to win $775. “We went down to Cypress and I, basically, just played follow the leader. He put me on the fish and I caught them. That’s about it. I was just throwing a Rat-L-Trap,” said Herndon. Falling into the third place spot was Tom Reeves of Land O’ Lakes, FL. Reeves brought in 9.00 pounds, which included the 7.15 pound co-angler Big Bass of the event. His efforts were worth $517 for third place and $375 from the Big Bass Pot. “We were in Cypress and I caught the Big Bass on a swim jig and my other fish on a Zoom Ultravibe worm,” said Reeves. |

Watkins Wins $6000 at Inaugural Ram Truck Open Series Event
James Watkins of Lakeland, FL won the Florida Central Division Ram Truck Open Series inaugural event at Lake Toho on January 16, 2015. Watkins brought in a 21.64 pound limit of Florida bass to take home $6350. “I ran down south to Kissimmee to fish a little structure I found in four feet of water. The fish like to hold up there when they’re getting ready to bed. Two weeks ago, I had 25 pounds in that area. I went by Tuesday to check it and caught a five pounder. Within 30 minutes this morning, I had a little over 17 pounds and then, I flipped up a four and half pounder later,” said Watkins.
Second place on the boater side went to Joe Ventrello of Apopka, FL with 20.13 pounds. Ventrello earned $1899 for his efforts. “I ran down to Kissimmee and did some flipping. I lost two today that would have probably won it for me, but that’s fishing,” said Ventrello. Dan Smith of Webster, FL finished in the third place spot with 19.52 pounds to win $1266. “I started out in Toho and went to a little pig trail where I caught a seven and a half pounder and one about a pound and a half. I started working some hydrilla after that and couldn’t do anything. Then, I ran to Kissimmee and started flipping pads. I got the rest of them in the pads,” said Smith. |

Ram Truck Open Series Raises Payout Season kicks off on Lake Toho January 16 out of Lakefront Park! American Bass Anglers offers Florida anglers a new series that will offer a guaranteed minimum first place to boaters of $5,000 at one-day bass tournaments. The 2016 Ram Truck Open Series will offer four one-day bass tournaments in 2 Florida divisions in a Pro/Am format. Anglers can advance to local Ram Truck Area Championships that will offer a guaranteed minimum first place to boaters of $10,000. In total, the series will offer more than $450,000 to guaranteed first place payouts in regular season. |
