Close Finish on Lake Conroe

ATHENS, Ala. – Justin Buller of Willis, TX won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Oklahoma Division, held May 19th on Lake Conroe, with an excitingly close finish above the runner-up. Launching from Lakeview Marina in Conroe, TX the anglers went out for the day with clear skies, mild winds, and a harsh sun that stayed around most of the day with the wind picking back up closer to weigh-in.  The boats launched for the day promptly at 6:00 am and returned to weigh-in at 2:00 pm.

Running out of Tamarac Marina in Salisbury North Carolina, Williams weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 21.71 pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 4.78 pounds. Weir Takes It Home on Grand

ATHENS, Ala. – Patrick Weir of Broken Arrow, OK won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Oklahoma Division, held May 12th on Grand Lake. Launching from Wolf Creek Park in Grove, OK the anglers went out for the day with steady but brisk winds that stayed around all day long.  Clear skies with no rain made for a dry day for the anglers when they came back to the launch for weigh-in at 3 pm. Of the nearly 100 participants, almost every angler brought in fish to the scales.

ATHENS, Ala. – Ken W. Thompson won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series NE tournament, held Date on the Chesapeake Bay. Running out of Anchor Boats Marina in North East, Maryland, the Roaring Spring, Pa angler caught five bass weighing 25.54 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 6.08-pound kicker. North Carolina Heads To High Rock Lake

ATHENS, Ala. – The North Carolina Division of the American Bass Anglers Open Series will hold its third event on 5/19/2018 on High Rock Lake. 

In early June of 2017, Steve Sink of Winston Salem, North Carolina won on High Rock Lake. with  21.19 pounds. He anchored his catch with a bass that weighed 6.03 pounds. “I caught probably 10-12 keepers today. I caught a couple shallow and then I moved out to catch the rest. I caught most of them on a Carolina rigged worm.” Said Sink.

ATHENS, Ala. – The Maryland division of the ABA Open Series will hold its next tournament on May 12th, 2018, on the Potomac River, Marbury, Maryland.

The competitors will launch at Smallwood State Park, located at 2750 Sweden Point Rd, Marbury, MD 20658. Anglers may begin fishing at 6:30a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. on Friday May 11th at the tournament trailer.

Ross Barnett Round Two

ATHENS, Ala. – Terry Whittington of Laurel, MS won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Mississippi Division, held May 5th on Ross Barnett Reservoir. Running out of Tommy’s Trading Post with slightly overcast skies and a mild breeze at takeoff, the day gave in to a cloudy rain.  Mild rain, but enough to soak things down and of course, the sun came out at 3 PM for weigh in.  Nevertheless, the shad were spawning, the fish were biting, and it made easy pickings for most of the field.  Over 60 limits were brought to the scales.
