Brian Choate wins $10,000 on Kentucky Lake in the Area 2 Championship
Brian Choate of Burns, Tennessee took home the win in the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 2 Championship, held on Kentucky Lake October 13th & 14th, 2018. Launching out of Paris Landing State Park. Choate caught four-bass on day one weighing 12.36-pounds. On day two, Choate weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 16.61-pounds for a total of 28.97-pounds. With less than a one-pound lead over second place, Choate took home a check for $10,000.
Kelly Logan wins $10,480 on Lake Norman in Area 4 Championship
ATHENS, Ala. –Kelly Logan of Morganton North Carolina won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 4 Championship held on Lake Norman on October 6&7 2018. Running out of Blythe Landing in Huntersville NC, Logan weighed in a day one five-bass limit weighing 9.52-pounds. Going into day two in 13th place Logan caught another five-bass limit weighing 13.11-pounds which was the largest five-bass caught by a boater. Logan’s two-day total was 22.63-pounds. Logan anchored is catch with a bass weighing 3.84-pounds which also gave him big bass honors for the boaters. For his win and big bass, Logan took home a total of $10,480.00.
Steve Perkins Takes the Area 7 Championship Win on Lake Texoma
ATHENS, Ala. – Steve Perkins of Velma, OK won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 7 Championship, held October 6th and 7th on Lake Texoma. Consistency is key to staying on top and Steve found himself with a good finish on the day, putting him within striking distance. The weather changed from sunny to rain for day 2 and most anglers struggled to get the same bites, but for Steve, it turned his on. His bag of 5-fish came across the scales 16.81-lbs, the largest bag of the tournament, and put him on top of the leaderboard, earning him the $10,000.00 guaranteed win. Steve’s 2-day total weight was 30.64-lbs.
Austin Weaver wins $10,000 on
Austin Weaver of Sheffield, Alabama took home the win in the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 1 Championship, held on Lake Pickwick October 6th & 7th, 2018. Launching out of McFarland Park Weaver caught five-bass on day one weighing 15.75-pounds. On day two, Weaver weighed in another five-bass limit weighing 18.09-pounds for a total of 33.84-pounds. With a 2.58-pound lead over second place, Weaver took home a check for $10,000.

Tripoli wins on Chautauqua Lake
ATHENS, Ala. – Donald Tripoli of Webster, NY won the American Bass Anglers Open Series NE two-day area championship, held 9/29-9/30 on Chautauqua Lake.
Running out of Mayville State Park in Mayville, NY, Tripoli caught two-day total of 32.53 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 4.81-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Tripoli took home a check for $10,000.
Wooten Wins $10,000 in Area 5 Championship on Kissimmee Chain
ATHENS, Ala. – Bobby Wooten of Lithia, FL won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 5 Championship tournament, held September 29TH & 30TH, 2018 on the Kissimmee Chain. Running out of Camp Mack in Lake Wales, FL Wooten caught five-bass on day one weighing 24.15 pounds. On day two, Wooten weighed in another five-bass limit that weighed 22.52 pounds, and that sealed the deal for his victory by a slim one-pound margin with a total weight of 46.67 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Wooten took home a check for $10,000 for his win.
Alabama North and Mississippi to hold
The American Bass Anglers Open Series will hold its Area 1 Championship on Pickwick out of McFarland Park on October 6 -7, 2018.
The anglers will launch from McFarland Park in Florence, Alabama at 6:30 a.m. or safe light on day one and two. Weigh-in will be at 3:00 p.m. on day one and at 2:00 p.m. on day two. Registration will be held at the tournament trailer on Friday, October 5th starting at 4:00 p.m. with a meeting to follow at 6:30 p.m.
2019 ABA Open Series Schedules
September 25, 2018, Athens, AL. American Bass Anglers announced today the 2019 ABA Open Series schedules with 81 tournaments in 18 divisions, in a Pro/Am style format. The series provides the path the 2020 Ray Scott Championship where the winning boater will be awarded $50,000 and a new Triton/Mercury Boat package valued over $70,000. The winning co-angler at the Ray Scott Championship will win $25,000 and a new Triton/Mercury Boat package valued over $55,000.
ABA will take top ten Boaters and top ten Co-Anglers from each division by points after the Area Championship to the 2020 Ray Scott Championship. Additionally, the top five Boaters and top five Co-Anglers at the Area Championship by place of finish, who do not advance by divisional points, will also advance.
Each division hold four one-day qualifying events and advance anglers to a two-day Area Championship. The Angler of the Year, both Boater and Co-Angler from each division will receive their entries paid for the 2020 season in the same division. This includes four Divisional events and Area Championship.
Florida Central and Florida South Head to Kissimmee Chain for Area 5 Championship
The ABA Open Series Florida Central Division and Florida South Division Area 5 Championship will be held September 29th -30th on the Kissimmee Chain.
ABA Open Series NE heads to Chautauqua Lake for the North East 2 day championship.
ATHENS, Ala. – The ABA Open Series NE will hold its next event of the season on Sept 29th and 30th, 2018, on Chautauqua Lake.
The competitors will launch from Mayville town Ramp, located at 78 Water Street Route 394 Mayville, NY 14757. Anglers may begin fishing at 6:30 a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. Friday September 28th at Chautauqua Suites 215 West lake road Mayville NY.
Virginia/Maryland Division Area Championship (Rescheduled For November 3-4 2018)
ATHENS, Ala. – Due to the hurricane that has and is producing heavy rain, the NC Park Ranger at Nutbush has closed the ramp and the Corp of Engineers has predicted lake levels above 312ft. The Virginia/Maryland area championship has been rescheduled for November 3-4 2018.
Gambill Strikes Again
ATHENS, Ala. – Brian Gambill of Sachse, TX won the American Bass Anglers Open Series East Texas Division, held Sept 7th on Toledo Bend.
Consistency is key to staying on top and Brian has found himself there 3 times in the last 3 years winning an event in each of them. The 2-time AOY landed another victory on Saturday at the 4th divisional event before the area championship, placing himself in contention to claim yet another at Lake Texoma next month. His bag of five-fish came across the scales early during weigh in at 18.20-lbs and held up for the win. Gambill walked away with a winning check for $5000.00.
Ingram Wins $10,000 in Area 3 Championship on Lake Eufaula
ATHENS, Ala. –Ryan Ingram of Phenix City, AL won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 3 Championship tournament, held September 8TH & 9TH, 2018 on Lake Eufaula.
Running out of Lakepoint Resort State Park in Eufaula, Ryan caught five-bass on day one weighing 22.02 pounds. On day two, Ingram weighed in another five-bass limit that weighed 22.65 pounds including a 5.93-pound kicker and that sealed the deal for his victory by almost a four-pound margin with a total weight of 44.67 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Ingram took home a check for $10,000.
