ATHENS, Ala. – The Virginia Division of the ABA Open Series will hold its next event of the season on 6/23/2018 on Kerr Lake in Henderson, North Carolina.

Lawson Takes Round 3 at Sam Rayburn

ATHENS, Ala. – Jason Lawson of Corrigan, TX won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Texas East Division, held June 9th at Sam Rayburn. Running from the Umphrey Pavilion near Brookeland, TX, the field of 71 boats and 66 co-anglers left at 5:45 AM with calm and still waters. For the boaters, 14 places took home a check with 13 co-anglers taking home earnings as well. The direct sun with little wind overall added extra heat to the day, but the anglers managed to bring through some quality fish to the scales. 

Jason Lawson took the top prize home for the boater side with five fish weighing in at a total of 24.11 lbs, held down with a 5.96-pound anchor. With just over two pounds separating him from the runner-up, Lawson managed to take home the check for $5000.

ATHENS, Ala. –  Scott Hayes of Newnan, GA won the American Bass Open Series Georgia Division tournament, held June 9TH on Lake Oconee. Running out of Sugar Creek Marina in Buckhead, GA Scott caught five bass weighing 18.83 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, took home a check for $5000 for his win.

Howell Takes the win on Clark’s Hill

ATHENS, Ala. – Daniel Howell of Prosperity, South Carolina won the American Bass Anglers Open Series event held 6/9/2018 on Clark’s Hill Lake. Running out of the Dorn Facility in McCormick South Carolina, Howell weighed in a five bass limit weighing 15.37 pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 6.85 pounds. For the win Howell took home a check for $5000.00. Howell’s kicker fish was the largest bass weighed in for the boaters. He collected an additional $410.00. For weighing in the largest bass of the tournament and for catching the bass on an ABU Garcia reel, Howell also took home an ABU Garcia SX reel valued at $160.00.

Brantley Overcomes Heat for Win on Grand Lake

Division 65 American Bass Anglers’ fifth tournament out of Tera Miranda occurred on Saturday, June 2, 2018, with another unusually hot, steamy day for spring fishing in Oklahoma.  Crawford Brantley of Grove, OK, took first place honors and the cash prize with an impressive five fish limit and a total weight of 16.22 lbs.

Edmondson takes the win on Weiss Lake


The Alabama North Division held its last event for the 2018 regular season at Little River Marina on Weiss Lake in Cedar Bluff, Alabama. With a field of 63 boats hitting the water we had a great day despite the temperature being in the mid 90’s.  Jeff Edmondson of Gadsden, Alabama caught 5 bass weighing 18.91lbs for the boater division victory. Edmondson took home a check for $5000.00 for the win.

ATHENS, Ala. – Darrell Gallagher of Maplewood, Ohio won the American Bass Anglers Open Series event held 6/2/2018 on Grand Lake/St. Mary’s. Running out of the West Bank in Celina, Ohio Gallagher weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 13.14-pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 3.61-pounds. Ken Thompson wins Again on the Chesapeake Bay

ATHENS, Ala. – Ken W. Thompson won his second tournament with the American Bass Anglers Open Series NE, Maryland Division, held June 2nd on the Chesapeake Bay. Running out of Anchor Boats Marina in North East Maryland, the Roaring Spring Pa angler caught five bass weighing 23.00 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 5.24-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, He also had the big bass for the boaters at 5.24 lbs. Thompson took home a check totaling $5500.
